Our Committee Members have been working hard and have secured a very impressive line-up of Workplace Visits, to maximise the wide range of opportunities which staging the SOM ASM in London provides.

We recommend that you use your Registration Form (or On-line Registration) to indicate which of the Visits you would like to take part in. Note that places are allocated on a first come, first served basis. Requesting a place on a Visit is no guarantee of its availability.

1) London Borough of Hackney: safety, health and the environment. The old industrial East End, the Olympics and inner city regeneration. Maximum number 10.

2) Olympics construction site in East London: health and safety in the construction industry on one of the biggest building sites preparing for the 2012 Olympics. Max number 20.

3) INCO Platinum Refinery North Acton : occupational health and safety in a contemporary platinum refinery. Maximum number 12.

4) John Lewis main London Park Royal warehouse: visit to specialised handling departments for warehousing garments carpets and furniture. Maximum number 20.

5) Ford, Dagenham: Visit to the stamping (bodywork) plant and diesel engine plant. Maximum number 10.

6) Royal Albert Hall: backstage visit and health and safety problems and management. Maximum number 10.

7) Imperial College London: visit to influenza research laboratories. Maximum number 10.

8) Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children: new build programme and hospital infection control. Keeping a service running with extensive building and modernisation works. Maximum number 10.

9) Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Whitehall: health and safety of staff working for government overseas. Maximum number 12.

10) London Fire Brigade Southwark Training Centre: occupational health in London's fire service.

11) London Underground visit. The underground is undergoing a massive reconstruction programme. Maximum number 10.

12) Fuller's Griffin Brewery,Chiswick: one of London's oldest breweries, where beer has been brewed for 350 years, since Oliver Cromwell. Maximum number 10.

13) Thames Water: sewage treatment plant at Beckton, East London. Maximum number 10.

14) Network Rail: visit to the signalling school at Watford to see the safety critical work by signallers

15) Royal Mail Mount Pleasant sorting office: visit the largest sorting office in the world in Clerkenwell, central London. Maximum number 10.

16) EDF electricity: visit to the major central London substation beneath Leicester Square. Maximum number 10.

17) London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine category 2 and category 3 laboratories. Maximum number 10.

18) Tate and Lyle sugar refinery, Woolwich. Maximum number 10.

19) City of London Police: keeping safe the financial powerhouse of Britain.  Maximum number 10.

20) London River Police: Policing the Thames.  Maximum number 10.
