The 2nd National Conference on Business Tourism, in association with the Business Tourism Partnership, will build upon the successful outcomes of the inaugural event in November 2003.

This is a Conference for the Business Tourism sector, delivered by the Business Tourism sector, representing and addressing the interests of the wider Business Tourism industry. The Conference will bring together key industry players, both from the UK and Internationally, to impart expertise in how the UK can become more competitive in the worldwide business tourism market.

Taking a grass roots approach, the Conference aims to bridge the gap between the strategy formulated by the Government and organisations such as VisitBritain and implementation, providing delegates with motivation and practical advice on how they can develop their own plans and improve service delivery leading to a more competitive local and national UK product.

Examples from other countries, invited home-grown case studies and industry-leader led workshops will inform, inspire and enable delegates to make a real difference in this ever-evolving industry. The Conference will not only inform and inspire delegates on how to create direction, but also will enable them to manage changes.

A message from Rt HON Richard Caborn MP

Business tourism is a strong and vibrant sector, which promises further growth in the future. It is important not only for the expenditure generated through visitors but also through the multi million pound deals that are struck at business events and the potential to win more business for Britain

In 2001, expenditure by overseas business visitors exceeded that of inbound leisure visitors for the first time. The potential of this sector is being recognised more and more. We need to take a joined-up approach if we are to make the most of that potential. VisitBritain's strategy for business tourism and the work of the Business Tourism Partnership are building on that approach and this conference is another significant step towards that goal.
