Best Abstract Awards
Awards will be presented for the four Best Abstracts and will include presenting the paper orally as well as a Poster.
An award of €500 will be given to the 4 best abstracts presented at PCICS Europe 2011. The award is presented to the first author of the abstract, who should present the paper at the Conference. This will ensure the best experience for the author and also the delegates interested in the paper.
The abstract may be presented at the Conference by another from the same department with prior permission of the Conference Programme Committee.
Travel Bursaries (supported by PICS (UK) and PCICS)
A number of travel bursaries are available on application. The awards all include complimentary registration and a travel grant towards the recipients’ travel costs. Applications will only be accepted from those with accepted abstracts for the Conference.
The applicant must register for the Conference online without paying. If accepted, the Registration Fee will be waived and the grant given on site to the recipient on proof of travel. Please follow the application guidelines on-line. Applications must be received by 11 July 2011; confirmations of travel grants will be made before 18th July 2011.
Applicants must have a confirmed VISA access to United Kingdom 45 days prior to the Conference. If a VISA application is refused the award will be re-allocated.

The age limit for applicants is 35 years (born in 1976 or later). Applicants must apply in writing before 11 July to be considered. You must include the following in your application:
- A letter of application
- A copy of the abstract(s)
- A short CV including a list of publications
- A copy of your passport, which must have at least 6 months before expiration

Young Investigator’s Award (NEW to PCICS Europe)
Available delegates paying the Full Clinicians or Professionals Allied to Medicine Registration Fees, who are authors of abstracts accepted who are less than 35 years and not in permanent employment. The award is to encourage younger medically qualified researchers and nurses from all specialities to submit research and case histories with a sepsis connection.
The award is a 50% reduction in the Registration Fee and may be awarded to authors who's abstracts are accepted.

Rules: Applications to be made in writing by the Head of Department using the form below. The Application must be made:
- to the Finance section at the time of submitting the Abstract.
- prior to registering for the Conference if a non presenting author
- Applications must be made at the time of abstract submission before 11 July2011 (Coinciding with the Abstract Submission deadline). After the deadline award applications will not be accepted.
