Kathleen Vits, SOUTHAMPTON. It's a great pleasure on behalf of the Scientific and Organising Committees to invite you to Bournemouth for the 2004 ICS (UK) meeting.

This will be the first time the ICS has come to the south coast and we plan to offer you an innovative and exciting scientific and social programme in one of the country's premier conference locations.

In this year’s programme we have included 4 key note lectures and are very fortunate to have secured such excellent international and national speakers. In addition to the free communication sessions, we will be having a dedicated poster session at the end of the first day for delegates to view posters at leisure.

Eli-Lilly and Boehringer- Ingelheim have joined together and have very generously donated prizes for the best free communication and poster and we would urge you all to submit your abstract by the 20th January.

Once again we are grateful to all our sponsors and this year we will again have industry sponsored symposia during the lunchtime sessions.

Bournemouth is an excellent conference venue that is well known to many of you. The Gala Dinner will be held in the Pavilion Theatre just a short walk through the gardens from the Conference venue. We look forward to seeing you all in Bournemouth for what promises to be an excellent few days.
