Accommodation

For convenience of booking at the same time as registering, the Organisers have made block bookings with hotels and colleges as convenient to West Road Concert Hall as possible.

The line-up of accommodation is provided as a helpful guide to participants. It does not reflect the huge range available in Cambridge. Whilst the Organisers have endeavoured to obtain the best rates possible, it may be possible for participants to obtain cheaper rates on a lastminute basis shortly before the Conference, direct with hotels and subject to their availability.

The Hotel Listing can be found here.

All requests for accommodation must be received on the Registration Form with appropriate payment (this may be in the form of a credit card guarantee). All rates are inclusive of breakfast and value added tax, unless otherwise stated.  Please note that some Hotels are offering single rooms as well as single occupancy rooms.  A single occupancy room will give you a bigger room.

BOOKING PROCEDURE

To book your accommodation you may provide either:

i) your credit card number (the card will NOT be charged by the Conference Secretariat and will be forwarded to the Hotel, who will charge it on your arrival or departure.  If you fail to arrive, a charge may be made by the hotel, according to the hotel’s cancellation policy)

or

ii) a deposit of 1 night’s stay at your hotel

The accommodation account (less the deposit paid including any extras) is payable by you directly to the hotel on your departure. A receipt for all accommodation costs will be available from your hotel on departure.

Please Note:

  • Accommodation cannot be guaranteed after 1st November 2007 as allocations will need to be returned to the hotels.  Where allocations are filled, the Organisers will make an equivalent substitution if possible.
  • Cancellations: All accommodation alterations or cancellations must be submitted in writing to the Conference Secretariat. Any cancellations after 1st November 2007 may incur a loss of one night’s deposit.
  • All guarantees – either one night’s deposit or a credit card number must be received 28 days prior to the Conference.   If neither a credit card number nor a deposit is received by this date, then your accommodation will be released.
Please note this point if you are registering shortly before the Conference, when only credit card guarantees will be possible.

Guidance on discounted late bookings

The Organisers have endeavoured to obtain the best rates possible.  However, it may be possible for individuals to obtain cheaper rates if bookings are made shortly before the Conference, either via agencies on the Internet or direct to a hotel.  If you decide to make your own arrangements for accommodation, your request for rates for late bookings should be directed to the hotel of your choice and will be subject to availability.

Cambridge

Cambridge is internationally renowned for its University, the origins of which go back centuries. To visit Cambridge now is to step into an unusual world Cambridgewhere history meets contemporary, where side streets lure you to peruse and where stretches of pristine lawns and serene cloisters quieten you. The atmosphere of history and tradition is everywhere and there are interesting things to see wherever you look. As for the buildings, these include Henry VI's Chapel at King's College, the Great Court at Trinity College, the Bridge of Sighs at St John's College and the Cloister Court at Queens' College. Then there are the general architectural features: the interesting bridges, narrow alleyways and ornate ironwork on railings Cambridgeand gateways. The cobbled streets are filled with bicycles and the River Cam filled with cheery students or tourists enjoying themselves. Cambridge is a special place and we very pleased to have found part of the prestigious Cambridge University that can offer modern and professional facilities for this important Conference.

Getting to Cambridge

Cambridge is a small city where the streets were designed for carriages not cars and parking space is at a premium. The local Tourist Board openly encourages visitors not to bring their cars but a Park and Ride service does operate. Access links to Cambridge by air and rail are excellent, with central London under an hour away by train.

Do join us for a few days of excellent conference in beautiful Cambridge.
