Tickets for social events must be pre-ordered on the Form.
The Registration Fee includes participation in the scientific sessions, poster
viewing and Exhibition,
Conference Programme and Abstract Book, lunch, teas/coffee, an invitation
to the Welcome
Reception, and VAT where applicable.

REDUCED REGISTRATION FEES FOR YOUNG INVESTIGATORS
A number of reduced registrations will be available to authors still in training
whose abstracts have
been accepted for either oral or poster presentation. This is not an honorarium
to present but a
reduction in the full Registration Fee (Early or Late) and you must register
in full first.
Rules - You may qualify as a Young Investigator if you are aged 35 years
or less, in a non-tenured
post and not a Head of Department. Your application must be signed by your
Head of
Department otherwise will not be accepted.
All applicants for Young Investigator Awards should note that the instructions
for
application must be followed at the time of abstract submission as Awards
cannot be given retrospectively.

DAY DELEGATE REGISTRATION FEES
A limited number of Day Delegate Registrations will be available. The rate excludes both social event tickets, which need to be purchased separately.

PAYMENT
Payment must be made in full, in pounds sterling either by (i) cheque drawn on a UK bank, payable to ‘Federation of Infection Societies Conference 2004’, sent to the Conference Secretariat, (ii) bankers draft, (iii) credit transfer, free of any bank charge to payee, made payable to: ‘Federation of Infection Societies Conference 2004’, Alliance & Leicester Commercial Bank, Bridle Road, Bootle, Merseyside G1R 0AA. Bank code: 75-20-05 Account Number: 557345189. IBAN No: GB20GIRB72000557345189. Please note that full details of any bank transfer must be sent with the Registration Form to the Conference Secretariat, to ensure correct allocation.(iv) by using one of the following credit cards: Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Switch/Maestro. Payment by credit card of the Conference and social fees will incur an administration charge of 4% to be included in the total payment. This is to cover the costs imposed by the credit card companies and is not retained by either the Conference nor the Organisers. If you pay by credit card, your statement will show the payee as Index Communications Meeting Services (the Conference Secretariat).
CONFIRMATION OF REGISTRATION
Only Registrations received with full payment will be registered for the Conference and all invoices must be settled ahead of the Conference. It remains the responsibility of the delegate to ensure that payment by any Trust or Department is received by the Conference Secretariat. Complimentary Social Programme tickets will only be issued if pre-ordered on the Registration Form. Blank responses will not be allocated tickets.
CANCELLATIONS
Cancellations should be made in writing to the Conference Secretariat
Cancellations received before 30th September 2004: full refund minus 25% administration charge. Cancellation after 1st October 2004: no refund.
It is hoped that all approved refunds will be processed and issued 60 days after the Conference.
BIS AWARDS FOR 2004
BARNETT CHRISTIE LECTURESHIP 2004
The British Infection Society (BIS) invites applications to deliver the highly prestigious lecture at the 11th Conference of FIS in Cardiff from the 23rd – 25th November 2004. Medically-qualified applicants who have not yet reached Consultant or Senior Lecturer level and non-medically qualified scientists who have not yet reached top grade scientist status, are eligible to enter. In addition to presenting this BIS Lecture on the afternoon of Tuesday 23rd November, the award winner will also receive£ 150 and full sponsorship to attend the FIS Conference.

BRITISH INFECTION SOCIETY FIS AWARDS 2004
The BIS will be making the following awards at the 11th Annual Conference of the Federation of Infection Societies:
- BIS Travel Bursaries (£750 each)
One award will be for the best oral presentation and one for the best poster at the FIS meeting. They are intended to enable the recipients to travel to undertake a further research project or attend a major Infection-related meeting, such as the European Congress of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ECCMID) in Copenhagen, April 2-5 2005 or ICAAC. - The British Infection Society will also make up to 4 smaller awards to recognise excellent oral or poster presentations at the FIS meeting.
BRITISH INFECTION SOCIETY TRAVEL AWARDS
The BIS has instituted regular travel awards of up to £500 which are available 3 times each year. The aim is to support travel to infection meetings of an international standing and to encourage younger members to attend ICCAC, ISDA, ASM and ECCMID Meetings. Application is in the form of a one page curriculum vitae and copy of an abstract with proof that it has been accepted for presentation. Closing dates for submission are 1st March, 31st July and 1st November. One award in November will be reserved for overseas BIS members wishing to attend the annual FIS meeting for which application is a one page curriculum vitae plus covering letter justifying the request. Each year a list of successful applicants will be posted at the Spring BIS Meeting.
