GENERAL INFORMATION
The Organising Committee again invites the submission of abstracts to be considered for oral and poster presentations. Those who wish to contribute a paper to the Conference should submit their abstract via E-mail as a Word attachment to: fis@indexcommunications.com. Please note that all abstracts should be accompanied by a Registration Form and Fee.
Please take time to read the Instructions for Abstract Submission below. The lack of necessary information with your abstract could slow down its review.
CLINICAL LESSONS
Submissions are also invited under the title ‘Clinical Lessons’. These should consist of a short clinical anecdote preferably with a good visual component in the form of Xrays or histological slides, in which an important management or diagnostic point is conveyed. The history only need be submitted for screening by the Review Committee, with accompanying descriptions of the visual material. These will be screened with the purpose of asking the authors of the best submissions to present them in a 10-15 minute slot during a session starting at 8am on Wednesday, November 24th.
PUBLICATION
Abstracts accepted for oral or poster presentation, except Clinical Lessons, will be published in the Conference proceedings and, it is hoped, in an issue of The Journal of Infection.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR ABSTRACT SUBMISSION
Abstracts should give clear objectives for the work, methods used and results, with succinct conclusion. Authors’ contact details should be clearly shown in the submission. An Abstract should contain sufficient detail so that, when published in the proceedings and Journal, it reads as a complete report independent of the Conference. - an initial statement of specific objectives of the study, unless this is given in the title
- a brief statement of methods
- a summary of results obtained

The name of the presenting author should be underlined.
- Must be produced using Times New Roman font size 12. Careful typing and proof-reading are essential; spelling, incorrect hyphenation and deviation from good English usage will be glaringly apparent in the published abstract.
- Abstracts should be no longer than 400 words including the title, author information and references.
- Please define abbreviations at their first occurrence and avoid using them in the title. Please ensure that all scientific nomenclature is used.
- Abstracts should be submitted via E-mail as a Word attachment to: fis@indexcommunications.com
